The first flight
Kitty Hawk, North Carolina (Dec. 17, 1903)- Two American inventors took to the skies on Dec. 17, 1903 as
the first men to sustain human flight. The two brothers, Orville and Wilbur
Wright, built the world’s first successful airplane with the use of their
breakthrough invention of three-axis control. This enabled the pioneers to
control the aircraft through the harsh winds that threatened or decimated all
other air flight attempts.
The brothers original take off was expected on Dec. 14, but due to a pre-flight attempt the aircraft stalled after take off causing minor damage.
